[Resolved] WP feed parsing is not working

  • Hello,

For some obscure reason feed parsing in WP using SimplePie always fails. I have no clue what’s causing that. The RSS widgets print this error message:

An error has occurred; the feed is probably down. Try again later.

But the feed is up and healthy.

Recently our server was upgraded from PHP 4 to PHP 5, Apache 1.2 to Apache 2 and a number of other software packages. That error started occurring after the upgrade. But yet again I’m clueless as to what’s causing it. Anybody got an idea?

  • Well, ok, I’ve nailed it – PHP’s xml extension is required for SimplePie to work. I guess it was turned off by default in our new configuration.

Feeds are parsed correctly now except for Yahoo Pipes feeds. But that seems to be a bug in SimplePie.

Topic is now resolved. A note to take: read the requirements and triple check configuration.
