WP eCommerce User Accounts

    I am deciding on a e-commerce plugin to sell both physical and digital items and am interested in WP e-Commerce in a community (buddypress) setting. I have a quick question, is it a single user account? To clarify are the user accounts needed for WP e-Commerce that of the WordPress users? Are they one in the same?
