• The latest update to wp e-commerce has made some major changes to the way it operates and has gone heavy on the javascript path rather than sticking with php.

Not quite sure why it went that way but it may be to support some specific themes and multisites but it does make it a lot more complkex to hack around and mod for small online store owners.

I’ve gone back to the previous version and if there’s enough support from users who don’t want to go the way of the official plugin I’d like to help with managing a fork of it.

Basically the fork will just stick to the php based operation and possibly be slimmed down a bit to make personaliisation of mods and hacks easier. The maintenace of the fork will really just be with plugging any security holes and making any needed updates for cmpatibility with changes to WordPress rather than adding bells and whistles – that for you to do.

Does anyone else think there’s a need for a fork or is everyone happy with just following the offical developers?

    thanks
    Kevin
