• version 2.8.6 is what I am using. In Simple Scripts under my Installs when I try and logon to admin it brings me up to a page with the following warning. I have read in the forum help from others and have tried suggestions but still cant figure out. Through file manager I have looked at the pluggable file and have no idea where or what line 897 is.
Any help would be appreciated on helping me fix this. Thanks

Through file manager I have looked at the pluggable file

That’s not where the problem is, that’s where the problem was detected. I know, that seems odd. 😉

Give this a good read and check your wp-config.php file as a just in case.

It’s probably your theme’s slotsatthebeach.com/wp-content/themes/slot_machines/functions.php file. have you edited it recently?

I got myself in trouble now. I read your suggestions and had tried to do before. I still could not fix the problem so I downloaded the same templete/theme as I had. I opened up another WP website and installed the theme. Then I saved existing files in wp-content/ & wp-includes such as functions, pluggins, header, etc. and copied new to the old and back again to original if they did not work. I must have really messed up. I am going to take a break. any suggestions?? I think I might have place the wrong files in the wrong places. I will need to backtrack and if that doesn’t work go back to swinging a hammer.

    This is the latest error:

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_STRING in /hermes/bosoraweb025/b270/nf.slotsatthebeach/public_html/slotsatthebeach.com/wp-includes/functions.php on line 6319

    Hello slotsinoc,

My name is Melissa and I am the Social Media Manager here at Netfirms. In an effort to help customers who use third party applications more we have been taking a look around the forums here.

There are a lot of issues that are hard to diagnose without actually going in and troubleshooting yourself – so the information I can give is just based off of what you have provided. This issue honestly sounds like the theme itself, a plugin, or an issue with the theme interacting with a certain plugin.

At this point I would recommend disabling your plugins to see if the errors stop, if so you can then re-enable them one at a time to see which one is causing the error. (For a mass disabling of plugins you can rename the plugins folder and then to re-enable name it back once done testing.)
You could also see about testing with a default theme, if the default WordPress themes work with no errors (with or without plugins as it could be a combination of your plugins and theme) then this would indicate that your theme is the issue. You can gain support for a lot of themes from the designers of the themes. In the theme area in your WordPress Dashboard most themes will show options for support or at least the designer’s information so you can contact them if you need to.

I hope this helps. If you find out further information let me know.

    Kind regards,

    Melissa
