Support » Fixing WordPress » WP dead after server upgrades / re-install impossible

  • My webhost updated his server (PHP 4.3.9 -> 5.1.6, MySQL 4.0 -> 4.1) with the result that my 2 wordpress blogs are dead.

Both blogs now just show a blank page. The error-log of the server has entries such as
File does not exist: home/httpd/vhosts/ is my domain and kuibyshev the dir one of my blogs was in.

According to my host, wordpress itself generates a segmentation fault but everything should be ok with PHP (my lifetype blog works) and SQL (database access works).

I tried a fresh install of wordpress in another directory and with a new, empty database but couldn’t get to the second step of the installation. When clicking on ‘continue to second step’, either a blank page (with IE) or a prompt to download ‘install.php’ (with Firefox) appeared. The configuration of the db is ok.

Any ideas what I could do?

  • I have a similar problem which my host couldn’t (or didn’t want to) resolve. Did anyone find a solution for this?

I’m also having this problem with the following:
    Linux 2.4.21
    Apache 2.0.49
    PHP 5.1.1
    mysql 4.1.3-beta
    Wordpress 2.5

Tracing apache shows a SEGV when I try to complete step 2 of the install.
