[resolved] wp-cron.php causing too many compute cycles (5 posts)

Hi, just wondering if this backWPup plugin is the cause of this? My server keeps going down with a timeout error because something is causing this script to run non-stop. My backups are only scheduled to run once a week.

I found this possible solution, anyone know if it is safe or if it will interfere with this or other plugins' crons? http://wordpress.org/support/topic/wp-cron-causing-excessive-processes#post-1880500

    Hi uz9mm,

in version 3.0.6 of BackWPup you can go to BackWPup->Settings->Jobs and try a different option for "Reduce server load".

Thanks!!! Updating manually now (was having issues updating, puts my site into maintenance mode for a good 15 minutes, FYI).

Thanks for the info about maintenance mode.

Yeah, I was using ManageWP to automate updates across all my sites, it kept failing. I had to individually deactivate each plugin (v. 3.0.5) to update, then reactivate, which was then successful.

Thanks for this plugin, it's by far the best backup tool I've used! :)
