Support » Plugin: BackUpWordPress » wp-content is Excluded with no options

  • Resolved

By default wp-content folder is excluded from backups which makes plugin useless.
There is no option to Stop excluding it.
WordPress install is in folder, wordpress location is determined correctly by plugin.

This is not normal plugin behavior. Are you using the most recent version of the plugin? Are you checking to ensure you aren’t able to “Stop Excluding” at the top of the exclusions section on that admin page?

Can you add a screenshot of the whole page if this persists? By default, none of the WordPress default directories or files will be excluded.

You can also try deleting the schedule in question that this is appearing on and see if those settings persist if you try to set up a new schedule.

Let me know what you find out,

Here you are. The plugin is fresh 3.6.2, as you can see here wp-content folder is not in explicit exclusion list, but it is excluded, which is not that desired. What os worse, there is no way to unexclude it.

    Screen 2

    Screen 3

Can the bug sit in ruling around default exclusion of backups folder, that is child of wp-content?

The only thing I can think of is you’ve excluded a similar folder in a different directory?

Can you try reinstalling the plugin to see if this happens upon a reinstall? Just deactivate and then delete the version you have now? Then see if anything is automatically excluded before trying to exclude anything yourself?

Thank you, that worked. One minor bug, not affecting functionality persists. If I manually remove large files in backed up directory, plugin does not detect new folder size and reports backup size estimation wrong way.

Great! Glad that fixed the larger issue. I’ve noted this bug before with the developers and it’s currently in the pipeline to be worked on. I think it’s related to the fact that the plugin finds the size of the site and then stores that value, but doesn’t update it if the exclusions are added. I’ll update that issue in GitHub and see if we can brainstorm any further on what it would take to fix that.

    Thanks again!
