Site displays properly but I am unable to login to my admin area as /wp-admin and wp-login are missing (resulting in a 404)

I don't have an .htaccess file, I have tried renaming my plugins folder to plugins.bak, wp-login.php is still listed in my public_html folder but inaccessible through a browser.

No changes were made manually between when I was able to login (at the office) to when I couldn't (4 hours later at home). I have several other wordpress blogs, including one running the same theme, on the same host that do not share these issues. PLEASE HELP!

    The site is: http://alc-o-haul.com

for some reason, it get s to the login if you just add /login after your site url; loke so:

you (or your host) might have some safeguard installed - maybe due to the latest 'brute force attacks' ?

That did it - I am guessing it was a security plugin
