First of all, there is no such file wp-admin.php. There is wp-admin/index.php and wp-admin/admin.php.
Also, you can restore any admin file from a fresh installation using your FTP. This will not affect your current site..
when using wp-admin/index.php I get
Index of /wp-admin
Name Last modified Size Description
[DIR] Parent Directory 29-Jun-2009 20:52 –

OR if using wp-admin/admin.php I get the Error 404 – Not Found
I don’t understand why I don’t get my admin area…
ryans149, you wrote “Also, you can restore any admin file from a fresh installation using your FTP. This will not affect your current site.. “
I got myself into Iram401’s situation when I was in my admin control panel and changed both of the pathnames. The install worked great when the pathnames were both:
http://www.swingresearch.com/wordpress/
but I changed to something like
http://www.swingresearch.com/wordpress/index.php
Now my blogsite has lost its formatting, and I get a 404 error when trying to access my admin page. I don’t know which admin file to restore. Using my FileZilla program, none of the file dates seem to have been changed.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
