Greetings- I am doing a site redesign for a client and am having trouble getting into the wp-admin after moving site to localhost running XAMPP.

I have the site up and running but all links are pointing to internet- I have already taken a look at the wp-options table and found two interesting items:

    1) site URL was set to http://www.bipartisangovernment.com — this link is some kind of drug testing supply company that I have no idea why it would be in this table– could it be from a hack or something? — anyway, I have changed the site URL to http://localhost/scm

    2) in line 2 of the table there is no “home” row – it goes straight to “blog name”

    Why would that be?

Anyway, I can’t figure out where else to make the change, outside of doing it on the live site and backing it up, switch the setting back, then install the other backup, assuming it is a change in the WordPress Settings that I can’t access…

    Does that make sense?

    Thank you for your time.

    -Blake

    Hello Blake,

It seems like you have got the copy of the live site in your local machine, but in order to make it work 100% for localhost, you might have to change more than just that field in database table as all the information of a website content is stored in database which includes links, posts etc

I will recommend you to use this script here but please read the instructions before proceeding with the changes.

I hope this will work for you.
