Try manually resetting your plugins (no Dashboard access required). If that resolves the issue, reactivate each one individually until you find the cause.
If that does not resolve the issue, access your server via FTP or SFTP, navigate to /wp-content/themes/ and rename the directory of your currently active theme. This will force the default theme to activate and hopefully rule-out a theme-specific issue (theme functions can interfere like plugins).
Thanks.
I’ve tried both and neither made wp-admin reappear – when I renamed my currently active them my site (main page and all) did not load at all. If it means anything, the mobile app seems to be fully functional as far as approving comments and adding posts.
Do you have a folder called “twentyfourteen” in wp-content/themes?
If not, download and upload it from https://wordpress.org/themes/twentyfourteen and then try renaming the directory of your currently active theme again.
I do and actually tried replacing the whole themes folder temporarily with a fresh one from a wordpress install zip, but still the whole site was blank.
And you did reset your plugins either via FTP or the Database?
If so, and that didn’t work, try downloading WordPress again and delete then replace your copies of everything except the wp-config.php file and the /wp-content/ directory with fresh copies from the download. This will effectively replace all of your core files without damaging your content and settings. Some uploaders tend to be unreliable when overwriting files, so don’t forget to delete the original files before replacing them.
I did disable plugins and it still didn’t work.
I guess that’ll have to be my next step. having my host take a look now.
Thanks!
Ok, let us know if the reinstall doesn’t work for you.
