WP Address vs. Site Address (4 posts)

    In the Dashboard under Settings, I am having a problem understanding the difference between "WordPress Address(URL)" and "Site Address(URI)".

    I am running my own server with Apache using Virtual Hosts. The Virtual Host for my WordPress site has:

    DocumentRoot /var/www/wordpress/html (<== index.php is here)

    In the Dashboard/Settings, I have:

    WordPress Address(URL) http://mysite.com (<== I want my users to type this in their browser)

    Site Address(URL) http://mysite.com/wordpress/html (<== index.php is here)

    Have I configured these correctly in the dashboard?

    Thank you,

    No - as per your configuration, your WordPress Address and Site Address should be the same, i.e. http://mysite.com

    If you installed WordPress to /var/www/wordpress/html/blog then your WordPress Address would be http://mysite.com and your Site Address would be http://mysite.com/blog.

    You can read up a little bit more about it here http://codex.wordpress.org/Changing_The_Site_URL.

    Hope that helps.

    It seems what you are saying is that if index.php is not in the document root of the server, then the Site Address would reflect that.
