• Hi,

I just installed my multisite and was trying to test the registration process. When I click the confirm link I get an error that says:

    “Not Found
The requested URL /wp-activate.php was not found on this server.
Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.”

Now.. the funny thing is that the file is on the server and I am able to go in as if to edit the file.

Is there a way to trouble shoot?

    Thanks.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

wp-activate.php is a WP core file located in the root of your WP installation.

If this file is missing, then it may be that your installation is incomplete.

Try MANUALLY updating. Download WordPress again and unzip it. Access your server via SFTP or FTP, or a file manager in your hosting account’s control panel (consult your hosting provider’s documentation for specifics on these), and delete then replace your copies of everything on the server except the wp-config.php file and the /wp-content/ directory with fresh copies from the download. This will effectively replace all of your core files without damaging your content and settings. Please read the Manual Update directions first.

Backup: If you haven’t already done, always backup everything (including your database) before doing any actions, just in case something really goes wrong. You can never have enough backups!

    hi,

I did what you suggested. Thanks by the way. But now that error is on my user’s side. Plus, I deactivated some plugins to see if there was a conflict. There was non. I still get a 404 Error. I don’t have a robots.txt file either. does that effect the site?

    Thanks.
