WP 5.5 – PHP Notice – class-phpmailer.php

    Hi,

    WP 5.5
    Post SMTP 2.0.14

    I just updated my local install to WP 5.5 and saw the below PHP notice in debug.log when sending any email:

    [12-Aug-2020 07:21:31 UTC] PHP Deprecated: class-phpmailer.php is <strong>deprecated</strong> since version 5.5.0! Use wp-includes/PHPMailer/PHPMailer.php instead. The PHPMailer class has been moved to wp-includes/PHPMailer subdirectory and now uses the PHPMailer\PHPMailer namespace. in F:\laragon\www\VALS\wp-includes\functions.php on line 4963

    This looks related to https://wordpress.org/support/topic/wp-5-5-class-phpmailer-php-deprecated/ but does not appear fixed even though I have updated the plugin to 2.0.14.

    I have even tried to deactivate / delete / reinstall the latest version as well.

    P.S. Changelog shows last version as 2.0.13 – 2020-08-11 however the latest version is 2.0.14.

    Please guide / fix
