Since my upgrade to 4.5 if I Enter the home page from the back end I get logged out. If from the back end I choose to view a post I stay logged on. Even though I flush w3tc if I login as a regular user, I see an old home page and post view. (Comments not updated). It appears this is directly related to comments by both users and admin. Also reply comment emails have stopped being sent. I cleared my browser and ite cache. I have removed all plugins then added back one at a time. marilynstreats.com

    Have you tried:

    – switching to the default theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

    – re-uploading all files & folders – except the wp-content folder and wp-config.php & root .htaccess files – from a fresh download of WordPress. Make sure that you delete the old copies of files & folder before uploading the new ones.

Thanks esmi. I did switch to 2016 and it seemed ok, but there was no sidebar and that is the root of the problem. This happened on another site I admn. Different theme, not Genesis, different host and different plugins.
I cleared my browser and found every use of Geneis Featured Post was randomly replacing images with another image on the homepage. The posts themselves and archives and media library show correct images attached to the url.
I will research how to reset the plugin folder and reupload those files you mention.
I am thinking it is an incompatibility between that plugin and version 4 5. I will look for an lternate plugin to try.

Thanks so much. I am markng resolved and if there is still a problem Ai will open a new ticket.

If the issue occurred across 2 different sites with different themes but both using the Genesis Featured Posts plugin, then it would seem that this plugin is, indeed, the culprit. Might be worth asking about this over on http://www.studiopress.com/support
