WP 4.2: Visual Editor stopped working

Hi,

Visual Editor stopped working on three separate installations after upgrade to 4.2, and on a new 4.2 installation at one point during the course of editing.

Setting script concatenation to false does not help.

JS console log (page reload and then try clicking the Visual tab):

GET http://domain.com/wp-includes/js/tinymce/plugins/hr/plugin.min.js?wp-mce-4109-20150406 : 403 (OK)

Just to be sure, the script file does exist in the location and is accessible.

When concatenation is set to “false”, the log is as follows:

Thanks but no, it doesn’t work. Re-installing 4.2 is also not making any difference, nor is theme change to 2015.

Oh dear, I was told to try concatenation too. I haven’t yet but hmm.

-Try adding this to the wp-config.php file above the /* That’s all, stop editing! Happy blogging. */ line so it looks like this: define(‘CONCATENATE_SCRIPTS’, false);

@tara: preventing script concatenation makes no difference.

Hi guys

I’ve got the same problem.
I did everything I saw on the forum, but nothing is working.
The problem runs only for long posts/pages

I simply downgraded to WP 4.1.x and blocked upgrades. But I discovered that the problem was related to my specific theme configuration.

This similar thread is from people having the Visual Editor problems in WP 4.1 so might not be your issue, but it’s definitely good to note that certain additions in .htaccess can cause the TinyMCE 403 error problems:

@kenyonbcom: no idea, honestly. I can’t turn it on now anyway because Vusual Editor only works up to WP 4.3.1 alpha, and we run WP 4.3.1 final.

this is driving me insane. I’m running 4.3.1 and visual editor works on all other posts except for one with a lot of content.

I’ve deactivated all plugins and using a basic theme and it still happens.

anybody have any clue as to what the problem is?

If you noticed this is a over 6-month old thread!!

If you need assistance, then, as per the Forum Welcome, please post your own topic. That way you stand a good chance of getting full attention to your specific issue. Despite any similarity in symptoms, your issue is likely to be completely different because of possible differences in physical servers, accounts, hosts, plugins, theme, configurations, etc. Thus one problem, on one setup is not indicative of the functionality and reliability of an application as a whole.
