Hi,

We have a few WordPress sites still running on WordPress 4.9.12 with Yoast version 12.4 (with the animated Black Friday banner!).

Seeing as the latest version on the Yoast plugin (12.6.2) removes the Black Friday banner; will you be releasing an update for those people on WordPress 4.9.12?

I am also hoping they do not do this again, upgrading 100+ sites just to remove an intrusive silly banner for one day, is not how I like to spend Thanksgiving!

Never heard of a plugin update like this before!

We apologize. We removed the banner completely in version 12.6.2 which we released on Black Friday, the 29th of November. Unfortunately, all our present releases now require the latest WordPress version.

We promise we’ll do better in the future.
