 * I have just tried to upload 3.6 from my computer to a pristine server folder,
   in order to create a new site from scratch. On trying to open index.php I got
   an error message to the effect that wp-includes/ln10n.php had a coding error (
   a “*” when expecting a “)”)
 * The same happened after several attempts.
 * An earlier version of WP uploaded and operated perfectly.
 * I added this post as a comment to another “3.6 errors” thread.

 * Re-upload a fresh copy of WordPress 3.6. There is no coding error in WordPress
   3.6.

 * Tried that. Twice!

 * Then I can only conclude that this is a server issue. There have been over one
   and a quarter million downloads of WordPress 3.6 but you are the only person
   that I have seen with this issue.

 * Maybe they didn’t report it!

 * The server is at Streamline.net
 * I have successfully (so far) updated the installed WP to 3.6 on several sites
   running on Streamline.net.

 * > Maybe they didn’t report it!
 * I seriously doubt it 🙂 I’m running WordPress 3.6 on about 15 sites using a number
   of different servers and I haven’t had this problem on any of them. Nor have
   I seen anyone else with this problem over the past week or so.

 * Thanks. What is apparently happening is that when index.php tries to open, it
   finds that wp-includes/ln10n.php is corrupted. Where did the corruption occur?
   Downloading/unzipping/uploading?
 * I’ve been in a similar situation before when a new top-range Yamaha keyboard
   I bought (the clone of tens of thousands already sold) exhibited a fault in retaining
   memory. So did the one I was given in exchange. I was the only person in the
   world reporting the fault, so it must be something to so with me! In the end
   Yamaha (that is, the lab at their UK HQ just round the corner from where I live)
   admitted it was a design error which must have affected all of that model of
   keyboards. They corrected my keyboard and it has worked perfectly ever since!
   🙂

 * I’m sorry but that’s really impossible to determine.

 * Make sure you delete the copy on the server before uploading the new copy. Some
   FTP programs and some settings will result in no transfer if a file already exists.

 * Thanks for the reminder Dane – but I did erase before reinstalling. I also tried
   replacing the offending file (after erasing it) with one from a working, earlier
   version of WP taken from another WP site on the same server – same problem.
 * Anyway, it’s all up and running now after installing WP 3.5 and doing an auto-
   upgrade within the site.

 * There is no problem at wordpress 3.6 at all
    you can visit my site made with

 * Thanks dpnpradhan. It does not help very much to make such an assertion. Obviously,
   I have encountered a problem. I have several sites running on WP 3.6 with no
   problems at all – they were all upgraded from 3.5.
 * I have explained the problem I have encountered in detail. Whether it is a problem
   internal to WP 3.6,or a problem with the way it interacts with servers, it is
   a problem!

 * Can you post the link to the website you are trying to install wordpress?? or
   whats the line in which this error is coming?

 * Sorry Anshu – I got round the problem as described above. If I have time, I’ll
   try to reproduce it and post the exact error report here.
