 * I got this:
    Warning: Missing argument 2 for wpdb::prepare(), called in /home/
   ianc1499/public_html/blog/wp-content/plugins/category-icons/category_icons.php
   on line 1047 and defined in /home/ianc1499/public_html/blog/wp-includes/wp-db.
   php on line 990 Now the dashboard has gone, the blog doesn’t display properly,
   all widgets have vanished. Can I reinstall 3.4.2? It worked fine…

 * Can you log in? The category-icons plugin is not compatible with WordPress 3.5

 * Fixed it by uploading 3.4.2 over top.
 * Will wait until the bugs are all ironed out before I upgrade toi a newer version.
 * Automatic upgrade SHOULD either warn users about potential problems first, or
   fix them.

 * Your bug probably was the category-icons plugin not being compatible with this
   new version.
 * > Automatic upgrade SHOULD either warn users about potential problems first,
   > or fix them.
 * WordPress warns you before an upgrade: “Important: before updating, please back
   up your database and files. For help with updates, visit the Updating WordPress
   Codex page.”

 * 3.5 is a train wreck. The link adds don’t work. I just lost an entire article
   when it froze trying to add a link. The link pop up showed up all the way at
   the bottom of the scree. Everything is moving in slow motion and erroring out.
   how do I get back to 3.4? I wish you guys would stop putting out updates every
   5 minutes, especially when they are full of bugs which cost us hours of lost
   work and time.

 * I don’t have time for creating my own topic. I’m too busy recreating all the
   work 3.5 just cost me.

 * Sorry, [@keesiemeijer](https://wordpress.org/support/users/keesiemeijer/), not
   only did I not see that warning anywhere, but it clearly is insufficient, since
   the problem was caused by a plugin, not the database.
 * Besides, a lot of WP users are not techies – they won’t know how to backup data
   or what to do when the upgrade crashes.
 * Perhaps updates should automatically disable ALL plugins, then let the user reactivate
   them manually. If there was a known problem about a plugin, shouldn’t it be noted
   SOMEWHERE on a screen so it could be dealt with BEFORE upgrading?

 * How and where do I get version 3.4.2 to upload it?
 * Thanks

 * > Perhaps updates should automatically disable ALL plugins
 * That would immediately cause major issues with caching plugins. Plus you’re assuming
   that all plugins are built to WPORG standards and can be deactivated. That’s
   not always the case, unfortunately.
 * **[@docboulay](https://wordpress.org/support/users/docboulay/)**: Do you have
   a pre-upgrade database backup?

 * [@docboulay](https://wordpress.org/support/users/docboulay/): It’s archived on
   the WP site. I just used that version.

 * Ichadwick, were you able to reinstall 4.3.2 through the dashboard or did you
   have to do a manual install? If able to reinstall through the dashboard, please
   advise how. Thank you.
