Search for “Voltron” or “idea” and it shows multiple listings of the same written entry. Worse, it seems to ADD another entry for every search. What the heck would cause this? I have two blogs, both with WP 2.2.2, and it’s only this one that is affected. I didn’t have this problem with WP 2.2.1 and earlier, though. Thoughts, ideas, suggestions please!

Heh. You have a plugin that deals with comments in some fashion, would be my guess.

Searching for Voltron gives 8 results. It’s not increasing, it’s stuck at 8 (for now). Notice how that post also has 8 comments? That ain’t a coincidence.

Some plugin you have is modifying the main query that retrieves the data from the database. This data goes into what’s called “the Loop”, which displays, well, everything. All your posts, all your pages, search results, everything of any substantial content goes through the Loop.

So, some plugin is causing your posts table to be joined to your comments table during the search. This results in duplicated posts being returned in the query, which the Loop happily displays.

Solution: Figure out which plugin is doing it, stop using that plugin, and tell the plugin author about your problem so he might have a chance to fix it.

I didn’t notice the comment thing, but I a million thanks to you. I disabled all my plugins and it still does that. Any idea how to fix a search once the plugin has been disabled? Again, thank you very much for you reply.

Found it. Some kind of bug in the custom fields option at the bottom of the post (in edit mode). If I delete all these and remove the plugin, it works. Thanks for your help.
