WP 1.5 for a production site/blog? You Bet!

I know that you’ll probably say – dummy, it is alpha/beta, etc. and you shouldn’t use it for a production site … however, is seems to be more and more popular … also the stability seems to be ‘getting there’ – so to speak.
So, my question is — a guess please — how far is 1.5 from being what the group consideres ‘stable’?
We want to launch a new blog and use 1.5, but don’t want to regret that decision. Sure, we have 1.2, but 1.5 is just so cool.
