I upgraded to WP 1.5 last night and since then my blog is being bombarded with spam. I’m talking about 40 spam comments and trackbacks per half hour, all of them having to do with poker or drugs. I’ve put all the key words and urls into the new blacklist feature, but it doesn’t do any good. The comments are still posted. I even have the trencaspammer plugin installed, which requires readers to entry a number code before their comment goes through, but the spam just isn’t being stopped! Is there anything else I can use to control this?

Note: I also have the comments feature turned off for old posts, but comments are still getting through. Aaa! I just deleted 15 of them and by the time the page refreshed there were 6 more. 🙁

Right now I’m using Spaminator, Spam Karma and Refer Karma. It’s been pretty effective in getting rid of spammers of all sorts. Good luck!

Where can I find those plugins? Thanks!

I just got spam trackbacks too. I’ve been up for a month plus on WP, and I never had a problem before even without any protection. This is my first spam attack.

    Is anyone else getting attacked?

All mine are illegitimate addresses that show up?

Everybody (=all bloggers and blogging software) are the target of such comments spam…
    See Codex for remedy:

    Some are here: http://dev.wp-plugins.org/browser

As for residualforces’ question: no. But then I have numerous spam stoppers in place since day one….
