Support » Plugin: Gust » Would it be hard to allow Chrome to recognize the writing pane as text?

I’ve got a feature request, though I’m not entirely sure if it’s doable. I’ve noticed one of the biggest things I don’t like about writing in Gust is that Chrome doesn’t recognize the left-pane as a text area. Therefore it doesn’t let me know when I’ve spelled a word wrong. I’m not a great speller, so this is a big deal for me, as I have to switch to the regular post editor to review the post for spelling errors, before publishing.

I have another request: make a setting to turn off the feature where Gust takes over links in the Admin bar and post list links for editing posts. I like to write in Gust. But if I go back to edit a post afterward, I usually want to do something more advanced, and would prefer to go straight to the normal WP Editor.

  • Spell checking would be great. I’m having the same problem.

As for spellchecking – I am sorry, but this is a problem Gust inherited from Ghost: https://github.com/TryGhost/Ghost/issues/1294
I will revisit this as soon as Ghost solves it.

I will be able to add an option to turn off the takeover of edit links in next release.

Hmmmm… that’s a bummer about the spell check. That one is huge. In fact, I think I’ll stop recommending Ghost to anyone, until that’s dealt with. At least with Gust, I can go to the default WP editor to do a quick spellcheck. Not ideal, but I can deal with it.

Sounds great on the takeover option. It would still be nice to have a menu item for Gust, to quickly get there from the WP admin bar (front and back end).
