Worst support team on top of a very poor product
-
I have never chosen Elementor, but I have inherited a couple of sites already built with it. As a developer with 20 years experience I highly recommend staying away from this product and company. My first experience came when a site crashed with a security issue due to Elementor. The former developer abandoned it so I purchased it on behalf of my client and dealt with a very complicated set up so I could update the plugin and get the site back online. It took about 3 days and cost the client two days without a website and more money than they deserved. I’ll give partial responsibility to the original developer on that instance, but there were several unnecessary hoops to jump through to simply get an update accomplished so that the site wasn’t continually crashing.
The second major issue is that it is incredibly heavy with a lot of unnecessary code that causes performance issues. I don’t recommend it on this point alone, nor do most good developers. If you need a builder check out some of the others ones. I personally recommend Divi, and there is another new one recommended by a very competent developer whose name escapes me.
The reason I will never go back is how the support responds. I missed turning off the auto-renewal by 3 hours. I had rebuilt the site in Divi, and I asked for a refund for my human mistake. That sent us into about a 19 email thread in which they explained to me that it was against their terms and conditions. Never have I experienced such rigidity from a plugin author. I am truly not sure if was ever responded to by a human. It just is so out of the spirit of the WordPress community. So I was down $50 for a plugin which caused me so many headaches I didn’t want to use it anymore. Truly disappointing.
