 * Hello everyone!
 * For some years now, I have been running a sewing-related blog and now would love
   to start promoting my sewing workshop and also manage enrollment via my blog.
 * I have tried the teach press plugin and loved the interface, but I found I would
   need to get students to register as users in my blog and feel somewhat uncomfortable
   with this. I briefly thought about adding another plugin to keep the new users
   out of the dashboard but then I realized that I should maybe use a different
   plugin to begin with.
 * Does anyone have a recommendation for a plugin that handles event management
   well, if possible without having attendees register as blog users? I am on expert
   on coding But I heard that some plugins can really slow down WP with unnecessary
   processes and of course I would love to avoid that. I did a quite extensive search
   in the forums here but found either entries that were quite dated or targeted
   event registrations on a much bigger scale.
 * Please note that my teaching activity is on a really small scale – at the moment
   there are maybe 3-4 workshops per semester with up to 8 students each. Payment
   will be handled offline, so there’s no need for an online payment interface.
 * Thank you very much for your help, and if I left anything unclear (English in
   not my first language, as you may have noticed) please don’t hesitate to ask
   and I will be happy to give you further details.
 * Kind regards,
    Sinje

 * I hope you find what you are looking for, but in case you do not, there is nothing
   to be concerned about in allowing students to register. A subscriber role has
   no capabilities to do anything but read entries. It makes sense to use the WordPress
   user system for students instead of creating a parallel system that does nearly
   the same thing. A custom student role could be added, and all such users could
   be cleared every semester to keep the user page clutter to a minimum.
 * For the scale of your workshops, if you add the paid users, instead of letting
   people add themselves, you will not have any problems with unwanted registration
   attempts.
