• Was setting this up, and was amazed how easy it was – then it came to testing it out.

I use WPRocket and run the whole lot through Cloudflare, so yes – I had the javascript age gate enabled.

Went to an age-gated page and it worked great initially, but then I clicked on ‘yes’ to let me in, but then it refused to reappear.

Set the ‘remember me’ length to 1 minute to see if that made a difference, but no joy.

Tried setting up another age-gated page to check out more things, but now the age-gate refused to show at all.

So – presuming I’ve set it up right, how do I make age-gates appear on posts so that edits can be made and also do this with some feeling of security?

    Hi @steveraven,

Are you still finding issues with this. It does tend to be a caching issue when this happens. If you have a link I’ll be happy to have a look and see what I can find.

    Thanks

Yes, issues all the time with it.

I’m having to use a different browser and not press the age gate ‘over 18’ button in order to customise it.

Clearing the cache, clearing the cloudflare cache, resetting the browser cache all make no difference – once the age-gate is clicked, all content on all posts using the age gate become visible forever.

    Hi Steve,

I’ve just been to this page (NSFW for anyone else reading this!) and the age gate shows. Then when I quit the browser to end my session and go back to it, it shows again. If you have a session running it won’t ask you every time, just the first time you visit some restricted content.

If you quit the browser and go back are you still having the issue? If so, what browser are you on?

    Cheers,
    Phil

    I’m using Google Chrome.

Just tried quitting the browser, went back, and the age-gate was still disabled.

Note that I did this how a normal user would do it, rather than faffing about using F5 and clearing browser history and cookies.

Hang on, My browser is set up so that I’m always logged in on Google Chrome.

Maybe THAT’S why the age gate stays disabled?

Should I try it on Firefox instead?

Ah, do you have the ‘Ignore logged in’ option checked in the restriction settings as well? That could cause what you’re seeing (or not!) if you’re always logged in.

    Cheers

No, ignore logged in users is NOT checked.

Gotcha – works fine on firefox.

I just have to remember to clear my site cache every day and the age-gate remains fully functional!
