The site: frankspeyers.com contains a few galleries — they appear to view properly in a desktop browser, but only have the phrase “The image could not be loaded.” showing between the prev/next arrows. Please advise!

While it is not working in your site it does work on our test site in mobile. It could be a theme or plugin conflict. Something that is running only when viewing the site on a mobile device.

    1. I turned off all Plugins and only reactivated MaxGalleria. No change.
    2. I changed the Theme to: Twenty Fifteen. No change.
    3. I resized the site within a desktop browser, and the galleries still worked fine in the smaller, mobile-sized browser windows — only the mobile browsers themselves still won’t render the images.

    Please advise (again).

Understand the mobile browsers are different and some like Safari disable Javascript when a page loads. I posted this issue to the author of the Magnific-Popup at https://github.com/dimsemenov/Magnific-Popup/issues/943. If he provides a solution then we will take action. I’ve also searched the internet for any solutions for this but have not come across any that work.

We have contacted the Magnific Popup author and after looking at your site he says,

“You enabled retina option, but haven’t configured URL, so script tries to retrieve images from URLs like http://www.frankspeyers.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/32×60-RoundUp-Thru-the-Cheyenne@2x.jpg , read the docs about this option.”

With the retina option enabled the plugin is looking for a image with a different file name. Try turning off the retina option. Or you can add a link for each gallery image to a high resolution version of the image.

I (finally) found the Retina option in:

wp-admin > MaxGalleria > “Out West” (gallery) > Options tab > Retina Images Enabled: [√]

and unchecked it. The galleries appear to work now — all 4 of them (after unchecking that option). I don’t recall enabling them in the first place, unless that is checked by default?

    Thanks,

    S
