It sounds like we should have a separate support thread regarding the issue you encountered, because I’d like to know which site was having the issue so I can investigate the problem further.
And thanks for the tips. The plugin should show an error message already so I’d like to investigate why it wasn’t.
And the cancel button sounds like an easy addition.
@jdembowski thanks for moderating. I keep on stumbling across rules I wasn’t aware of like this one. I’ve read over the support forum guidelines but didn’t notice the rule you’re taking about (unless you categorize adding a link as “spamming”, which I wouldn’t, so long as it’s relevant.)
FYI @marthalindeman I created a GitHub issue to address it (I’d link to it but am now unsure if that’s permitted! 😣)

@mnelson4 The guidelines aren’t rules. Neither is the FAQ. People game rules and that’s always not good.
