Very simple list view of four Google Calendars merged into one + 1 small widget showing only the next Event. Works exactly as hoped – thanks for a great plugin (I use the free version).

  • How exactly did you hope? What happens if you change an event in one of the four calendars and then check your website? Is your change reflected? If so, maybe you can tell me what I did wrong?

    Hi kerrythurber

Yes, any change is reflected immediately (I tested it some seconds ago). And no, sorry I cant tell you, what you did wrong, but I can tell you what I did.

    1. I created the Google Calendar API like this: YouTube link
    2. Added the API to the plugin settings
    3. Made all calendars public
    4. Copied all 4 Google calendar ID’s
    5. Used the plugin to create 10 calenders
      • 4 x (with the copied google calendar ID’s) with the layout I want for the list
      • 4 x (with the same 4 ID’s) with a simple layout for the widget
      • 1 x merged the 4 “list” calenders and used the calendar short code to create the calendar on any page
      • 1 x merged the 4 “widget” calendars and used the calendar short code to show one event on a small widget

That’s all. Now I do not have to touch the plugin, only add/change events on my google calendars.

I’ve got the feeling that you did almost the same way like me, but maybe I could help you anyway.

    Greets, Klagstein

Here is my layout for the list and the widget calendar:

4 x list layout looks like this (small google maps picture/link on the right):

    <strong>[title]</strong>[start-location-link newwindow="yes"]<img class="size-full wp-image-823 alignright" src="//GoogleMaps.png" alt="" width="50" height="50" />[/start-location-link]

    [start-date]
    [start-time] - [end-time]

4 x widget layout looks like this:

    <strong>[title]</strong>
    [when]

1 x merged list calender layout does not matter (setting is to show all dates within the next 5 years)

1 x merged widget calender layout does not matter (setting is just to show 1 event)

Yes that’s exactly how I did it. It seems to take a while for changes to propagate through, as it’s working this morning. Frankly, that seems like a bug.
