Support » Plugin: The Events Calendar » Works, but a bit hard to modify for me

  • The plugin works pretty fine, but I want to customize some things that are not in the setting. It seems hard to find someone (users or developers) who knows the code to do these little adjustments to the plug-in.

    Hi again @prpp

I’m glad to hear that things are working well for you overall.

Regarding the support being disappointing, I replied to your outstanding thread from 5 days ago with a code snippet that I believe answers the question you were asking.

Please note, however, that the sticky post in our .org forum states it may take 7-10 days to receive a staff reply.

The support turnaround in our paid forums is much faster because people are paying for support.

The terms for our paid forums state that we do not provide custom coding, much less our free ones. The sticky post states, “The main priority of this forum is collecting bug reports.”

I definitely understand being disappointed if your expectations didn’t match what we provide, but hopefully a clearer understanding of what to expect can help going forward. On that note, we’d appreciate you improve your rating, since your support thread has been handled both earlier than we stated should be expected and also being an above-and-beyond topic (code snippets) that we normally do not provide.

Thank you very much, and we hope you get a lot of good usage out of our free plugin! 🙂

    Hi Clifford,

Thanks for your response and the code.
I’m sorry I didn’t read the sticky post about the main priority of this forum.

In a lot of cases a forum is used to ask questions and get answers from different users (and not only from developers) for specific modifications and or code.

I could consider to get access to the paid forum, but as I read their I won’t get an answer to my other question also.
    https://wordpress.org/support/topic/date-notation/

What is the right place then to get response from other users that know more about code than me? Or is there another way to get code from you for this question?
Of course it would be nice that it will become an setting in the plug-in to get the date notation I want.

    Hi @prpp,

Absolutely – these forums are very much a place to seek help from the community (and, in turn, to provide help to others where you can).

We do find that lots of users expect daily moderation and support from the plugin team, though, which is why we try to set expectations via things like the sticky post Cliff shared.

What is the right place then to get response from other users that know more about code than me? Or is there another way to get code from you for this question?

If you still need help with the topic you referenced you could post an update saying as much (and remove the “resolved” flag) – but beyond that, I’m not sure there are too many other ways to get support from your fellow users via the forums: there are certainly lots of helpful people out there, but there’s an element of chance as to whether they happen to be visiting the forums and see your post or not, assuming they have any advice to offer for the specific problem you asked about.

We do offer premium support as has already been mentioned and purchasing an Events Calendar PRO license would give you access to that — typically, we’re able to provide a little more guidance in those cases via our premium forums 🙂
