This plugin will slow down your site a lot have this in mind (at least in a shared low resources WP host), but it works well most of the time.
You will absolutelly need to have an dev site where you can test the new releases before putting this on a production one. Many times the new releases can be a little buggy with others plugins.

It has been now 3+ years I’m using this solution and I thought about uninstalling it several times but I also noticed that is getting better over the time. Sometimes to have the latest version running like before you will need to do some tweaking.

You will get asnwers from the support, but if your case isn’t how to use and is more like i’ve a bug, the answer is almost all the time someting like uninstall all other plugins (not a solution in real world) or this or that plugins is not compatible with wpml & cia. So, do a good compability test before and try to limit the use of others plugins. (for performance reasons too. less plugins faster wp will be)

I completely agree that it’s a good idea to have a dev server for testing. The combination of WordPress+a theme+WooCommerce+WPML+WCML+many other plugins+many WC extensions, is very complicated. It has infinite combinations and it’s practically impossible to test all possible combinations of extensions and server settings.

On our sites, our upgrade process FOR ANYTHING include:

    1. Test on a dev server
    2. Do a full backup for the production server
    3. Update the production server

I know that this is frustrating, because you’re paying us and you would like to expect to click Update and have everything working. Of course, we want that too. In reality, we run full testing on our plugins on a set of cases, but our tests cannot cover all combinations on all sites.

I’m glad to hear that you’ve noticed that we’re improving. Trust me, we work very hard to be better. We’re also working hard to improve our support processes, so that the first answer will not always be ‘please deactivate all plugins except WPML’.
