• According to the log files, I need this plug in.

According to the plugin files, I have no clue what anything is, does, or needs to happen.

I wish the developers could write at least one version of their instructions that WP “beginners” could understand.

I wish that updating the plugin didn’t set me back to zero so I have to fight with this problem every time they update.

“…set me back to zero…” sounds like one of these very common recurring problems below that occur when upgrading BPS if you have not locked your root .htaccess file and turned on AutoLock.

cPanel broken HotLink Protection Tool problem
    http://wordpress.org/support/topic/plugin-bulletproof-security-broken-cpanel-hotlink-tool-404-errors-unable-to-edit-htaccess-files?replies=9

    WordPress flush_rewrite_rules function problem

We are always open to suggestions so let us know what you think should be changed or improved regarding the help text. BPS is explained more extensively on our Forum site. BPS contains more help text per plugin page than most plugins. Probably what would be best is to not try and explain every possible unique scenario within the BPS plugin help text and instead add more links to the Forum site in the help text where we can explain things more extensively for every possible unique/individual/particular scenario.

I would be happy to talk to you about how confusing your “help” messages age, offline. It’s not a conversation I can have in email. The amount of text is meaningless if the basic understanding is not there.

Ok thanks. Someone has been assigned to look into this.

    Hello this is Scott,

I am very pleased to say that after researching this issue extensively and and evaluating feedback from 1,000’s of users we have identified what needs to be made clearer and a solution to that grey area.

    Our mistake/the grey area:
The Security Log entries make perfect sense to us, but unfortunately this makes an assumption that everyone else also will understand what they mean. That was a huge mistake on our part.

    The solution:
The Security Log entries will now have 2 new Fields that will clear up the grey area/mystery about what Security Log entries mean and provide a link to the solution, which should make this easy and simple for everyone. Or if the log entry is a standard hacker/spammer blocked/forbidden entry then an N/A – everything is already taken care of by BPS will be logged.

    Event: X
    Solution: X

    Example Security Log entries.
