Support » Plugin: 404page - your smart custom 404 error page » Good, but banners polluting the admin screen

  • The banners to follow 404page on Facebook and to rate the plugin appear on every page of the admin screen. That’s VERY annoying. Having those show up on the settings page of the plugin makes sense and that’s fine. But I’d love to see them update the plugin to remove those banners from the other admin screens.

Thanks a lot for your feedback, I really appreciate that.

I’m using the default WordPress Admin Notices. This is the only suitable way to communicate with the users. WordPress Admin Notices are shown on every page in Admin. That’s the WordPress standard.

But all Notices I’m using in my plugins can be closed. Once you close them, they will never show up again. This is very common and used by many plugins. I’m sorry you find that annoying.

Showing the Notice only on the settings screen of my plugin does not make sense. Most people do the settings once and then never visit the page again.

Version 11 is in development. For this version I plan to combine the messages into one single Admin Notice that will show up 30 days after first usage. But I’ll continue to use the WordPress standard, which displays Admin Notices on all pages.

    Just close and forget.

    Regards,
    Peter
