Support » Plugin: PDF & Print by BestWebSoft » Works, after a fair amount of fiddling

  • A few configuration quirks — a spurious error message on the back end about directory permissions for ttf font library which actually installs somewhere else than the error message describes, an error message on the front end that is not very helpful (“the site is experiencing difficulties”), a not completely smooth upgrade for the mPDF library.

Once that was sorted, the plugin delivers a PDF file that doesn’t see content in an iframe, yet the Print view fetches and displays the iframe content.

Nevertheless, my users will enjoy being able to print and download web content.

    Hi,

    Thank you for contacting us!

Regarding the plugin error and the incorrect mPDF library downloading, this problem might occur due to the damaged downloaded mPDF 7 archive. If you still need help with this issue, please create a private ticket on our support forum (https://support.bestwebsoft.com/hc/en-us/requests/new).

Regarding the error message on the front end, it couldn’t be created by a PDF & Print plugin but can be generated by WordPress. WordPress 5.2 introduced a new recovery mode for website administrators. When a fatal error occurs, the error message will show that “This site is experiencing technical difficulties”. Please read more here: https://wordpress.org/support/wordpress-version/version-5-2/#php-error-protection.

And regarding the display of iframe in the PDF document – in order to generate pdf/print version of the page, PDF & Print plugin uses the content that is featured in the body of post/page before it is displayed by the browser (i.e. the data featured in the main block on this post/page in the edit mode).
Unfortunately, the functionality to output the information from iframe is not available. There are many peculiarities from a practical point of view. The iframe is used to display information from another resource or file.
