Support » Plugin: Advanced Excerpt » Working on Posts Listing; Not on Homepage

    Morning!

    I installed this plugin for a site and it’s working great, but only for the Posts Listing Page (called Notebook on this site). I have a single post that I display on the Homepage that this isn’t being applied to for some reason.

    Both instances use `<?php the_excerpt(); ?> to write the content of the post, but the Homepage one doesn’t get the Advanced Excerpt formatting applied.

    Samples below…

    <strong>Homepage</strong>
    `
    <div class=”blog__col blog__col–content”>
    <h4 class=”h3 blog__title”>“><?php the_title(); ?></h4>
    <p class=”u-margin-hug-top”><?php the_excerpt(); ?></p>
    ” class=”btn btn–primary”>Read Post” class=”btn btn–tertiary”>View All Posts
    </div>
    `

    <strong>Post Listing Page</strong>
    `
    <div class=”blog__col blog__col–content”>
    <?php the_title( ‘<h4 class=”h3 blog__title”>‘, ‘</h4>’ ); ?>
    <p class=”u-margin-hug-top”><?php the_excerpt(); ?></p>
    ” class=”btn btn–primary”>Read Post
    </div>
    `

    Any help is appreciated!

    Thanks

    The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

    Hi @torte

    And if you completely remove that line of code what happens? If an excerpt still shows up then that is not the file which handles the output of the listing you want to change.

    Hi @wpkube
    when I completely remove that specific line of code the excerpt is not shown any more. Only the headline, of the post and the picture are shown. No excerpt text any more.
    ?
    Does that indicate its the right file I’m changing?

    Hi @torte

    Then that is the correct location, so not sure why the code wouldn’t have an effect. How about this, does it display an excerpt:

    <p class="summary"><?php if ( function_exists( 'the_advanced_excerpt' ) ) the_advanced_excerpt(); ?></p>
