 * Is it possible to make edits to a template without activating it. I want to change
   templates for my website but not ready to go-live.

 * Not really. You can make a copy of the theme and use [http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/theme-test-drive/](http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/theme-test-drive/)
   or such to test it, though.
