 * Aside from the workflow panels in admin there is no way to tell if a) a post 
   is in a flow; b) what stage it may be at. Are there hooks one could add into 
   a template file which might show this?

 * What a timing. We are going to provide a way to look at the graphical workflow
   from within the post. The graphical view will show where the post is currently
   in the workflow.

 * The graphical view is now available with v1.1. If you wish to hide it, you can
   do so via the Workflow Settings.
