  • Your “wordpress.org” website is hosted somewhere, the hosting provider will have instructions on how to direct a domain name to your site, specifically a set of 2 or 3 nameserver settings to use.

The domain registra / vendor (in this case wordpress.com) will also have instructions on how to set the nameserver settings on names you control.

Between the two your problem is solved.

To move the content try Export (from old site)/Import (from new site) tool. It should work.

Make sure that you have the same Permalink options at both sites.

If you have access at the old hosting tp the files, especially to the .htaccess one, and create if it doesn’t exist and put:

    redirect 301 / http://yournewsite.wordpress.com/
