I use wordpress.org extensively for all kinds of support questions and it’s an excellent resource–however–I’ve noticed of late that the search results open in a new window when you click on them.

I thought this issue was resolved long ago: don’t open new windows on links unless you have a pretty good reason to. The “target” attribute is even deprecated!

If I want my click to open a new tab, I’ll use a modifier key, thanks!

search results open in a new window when you click on them.

Not on any of my sites, they don’t. Can you replicate this whilst using the Twenty Eleven theme having previously reset the plugins folder using Phpmyadmin?

I’m referring to the wordpress.org site itself and the search results page there.

Is there a better forum to post about the wordpress.org website?

No, this is the right forum, and that’s because the forum search was moved to Google, and the way they embed things, it new-windows. Basically, Google’s a dork.

We can’t fix it, but this is a semi-temporary solution to when Yahoo broke the old search. Something better is on the (does this thing EVER get shorter?) to do list.

Google’s doin that huh? Wow. Well, good to hear something better is in the pipeline–thanks!
