 * is this natural? i had my blog hosted at deero.wordpress.com(free) and decided
to get a domain and hosting then install wordpress.
 * the thing is i normally got 700 visits on normal days and double on planned dates
on wordpress.com. but when i moved my site to [ Dee’s RO journal ](http://www.deesrojournal.com/)
with a web host my traffic dropped to 200/400.
 * will it pick up? or should i just start SEO?
 * total newbie here. (sites 2 weeks old).
 * Thanks in advance!

 * Did the structure of the site (URLs, code, etc.) change at all when you moved
it, or is it exactly the same?

 * Also are you redirecting your old traffic to your new site?

    code is pretty much the
same. i downloaded the theme from the authors website and used that.

    i actually didn’t have
enough to pay for the redirect. all i did was transfer the data then delete my
old wordpress.com blog to avoid content duplication. i have a fanbase on facebook
   so that helps a bit.
 * i was wondering if google analytics is beter than wordpress jetpacks stats? which
   is more accurate?

 * I get wildly different stats between WP Stats and GA. I don’t know who’s right.
 * However I suspect some of the drop is people going to the old site and not finding
you. Did you link back to your new site?

 * i actually deleted the wordpress.com blog since i was a bit scared that google
wouldn’t index mo for content duplication or something since i moved the whole
site. i thought about the redirect service they had but i couldn’t afford that
atm since i just purchased a domain and hosting 2 weeks ago. if you visit the
old blog deero.wordpress.com it says that i deleted the blog.
 * my visits are mostly from facebook and from people searching dees ro journal.

 * Deleting the .com blog and NOT redirecting is probably why people aren’t coming.
Doesn’t matter that you posted on FB or not, people save URLs. The URL is gone,
   they are lost.
 * You could have wiped the content from your site and made the 404 page say “I’ve
moved to…” and that would have been better.

 * i don’t think you can edit 404 pages on wordpress.com blogs. i should have just
wiped the content like you said and made a single post that links to my new site.
