 * I did a search of my problem, and while I found others who had the same problem,
   I couldn’t find a resolution. If somebody here can point me in the right direction,
   I’ll be forever grateful.
 * I’ve had the WordPress.com stats plugin for a while. I’ve just upgraded to WP2.6,
   and the plugin gave me the “needs attention” message. I clicked on it, and it
   asked for my API key. I entered that and got this:
 * *********************
 * The API key “###########” belongs to the WordPress.com account of “username”.
   If this is not your account, please re-enter your API key.
 * According to the WordPress.com database, this API key is already associated with
   at least one self-hosted blog. You can add this as a new blog on your WordPress.
   com account or replace an existing blog and inherit its stats history.
    Add new
   blog to my account
 * Do this if this blog is new or has never been associated with your API key. This
   blog will be added to your WordPress.com account.
 * *********************
 * Unfortunately, it doesn’t tell me how to replace/inherit, and when I try clicking
   the “add” button at the bottom, I get a “Missing API key” error.
 * How do I get my stats back?

 * On a whim, I checked my Akismet configuration and discovered I’d registered that
   with a different API key. I used that key for my WordPress.com stats plugin and
   voila! It was working again.

 * Not sure what you’re asking … my problem turned out to be that I was using the
   wrong API key. When I entered the same key I’d used for Akismet, the problem
   was solved.

 * I’ve got a similar problem.
 * I’m working on two different sites, both with WordPress 2.6.1 and on the same
   server – and I’ve used the same API key to configure Akismet on both installations.
   Then I entered the same API key into WordPress Stats configuration and it worked
   just for one of them, not for the other.
 * Furthermore: when I enter my API key into WordPress Stats configuration, he recognizes
   the account and asks me if I want to replace the existing blog or to keep both
   of them, the old and the new one. So I tell him to add this new blog to my blog
   list, but it doesn’t work.
 * It must be something really stupid – but I have no idea how to solve it. The
   second blog Stats config continues telling me there was no API key typed, when
   obviously I’ve enterd it.
 * 🙁

 * I have a similar problem. I’ve tried using my Askimet API key to activate my
   WordPress Stats plugin. It’s telling me it’s not my key to use. I’ve tried so
   many different ways to get to the right key I’ve lost track.
 * I can sign into my blog with the password for my account, but the same username
   and password DO NOT work when signing directly into wordpress.org.
 * I think I now have several user names and passwords floating around out there
   because I keep reading a new solution to my problem and creating new accounts
   and still I don’t have WordPress Stats running.
 * My Askimet is working just fine and has for over 7 months.
 * Are there stats out there that I can use without an API key?
 * Please help me. This is the only problem I’ve been having and it’s now been several
   months and I STILL don’t have a resolution.

 * Uh-oh. My avatar is linked to a different name. ff2x4 is NOT the username I use
   to log onto my blog.
 * I’m about reading to dump this blog. I’m so confused.
