    Failing attempts to activate WordPress.com Stats yields this messagae:

    “WordPress.com Stats needs attention: please enter an API key or disable the plugin.
    The API key “xxxxxxxx23d3” belongs to the WordPress.com account of “clientaccount”. If this is not your account, please re-enter your API key.”

    “xxxxxxxx23d3” works fine for Akismet. Disabled Akismet w/ no luck. Created new wp.com account w/ new API and Akiment disabled and no luck.

    Clean reinstall and still no luck.
