• I am now very close to moving to wordpress from wordpress.com. I only have a few snags left. Back when I was on wordpress.com, the only way I could embed videos was by little short tags, such as [youtube (url)]. Now, that I’m not on wordpress.com, I need to chagne it to HTML code so I can embed the videos. Is there any easy way I can get wordpress to change the code to what I need? Thank you.

  • There is a great plugin which allows RAW HTML to be inserted into posts…and this might be a convenient way to solve your problem…I liked the auto video insertion function when I was bloggin at wordpress.com, but now that I am at my own domain, that does not work.

That looks like a shortcode. If so, shortcodes do work in stand alone installs, provided you have software to parse them– usually a plugin. What I don’t know is which shortcodes are installed on WordPress.com blogs and which plugins might duplicate the functionality.
