# WordPress.com API key problem

 * Last week i installed the wordpress.com stats plugin on one of my sites that 
   was also running akismet – no problems – today i tried to install the stats plugin
   on a site that isnt running akismet, and i had this error:
 *     ```
       Error from last API Key attempt:
   
       parse error. not well formed
       ```
   
 * is the key only valid on one site? or is this to do with akismet?
 * thanks
 * ps. both sites use 2.1.3 – haven’t upgraded the ones in question yet

 * I have the exact same problem. My API Key works fine with akismet but not with
   the stats plugin.
 * I’d appreciate it very much if someone could help solve this.
