# WordPress won’t update

 * I keep getting the following if I click update.
    An updated version of WordPress
   is available. • You cannot update because WordPress 5.2.1 requires PHP version
   5.6.20 or higher. You are running version 5.4.45.
 * While your site is being updated, it will be in maintenance mode. As soon as 
   your updates are complete, your site will return to normal.
    WordPress has detected
   that your site is running on an insecure version of PHP. I’ve done backups and
   all plugins are up to date but this just keeps running like this and stating 
   the same results.

 * You will need to contact your hosting provider and have PHP upgraded.
 * Hope this helps. Once you are able to run updates normally again please tag the
