WordPress WONT SAVE this sentence... WTF (4 posts)

This is the most infuriating problem ever.....

I have a page that has a good amount of text on it, and an image. When I add this sentence, it won't save

"Once you complete these steps, all you need to do is go to the Gallery, browse around for the theme you like, and order it right from the gallery. "

It basically just goes for a very long time as if it's saving then goes to Page now found for page.php.

At first I thought it was a length of post issue (i ran into this with joomla at one point), BUT, if I type "the quick brown fox jumped over the lazy dogs." and copy and paste that 10000 times, it works perfectly.

I have tried to systematically go through and change each word, thinking maybe one of the words wasnt translating well to saving in a database (my only possible explanation why that sentence won't work but another one will which is far longer). it would simply not work until I got to a word, then it would go right away to page.php error rather than hanging for 30 seconds. Then I would go back in and change only that word and it hangs again!

I know I can go into phpmyadmin and edit the pages there, but thats beside the point. My site is for a business so I edit the pages a lot. going into phpmyadmin every time is not something I'm going to do.

Ive also tried this on a separate install of wordpress on a completely different server and it had the same problem.

isnt disabling mod security really not recommended as it removes all the security features? thats what my host said anyway

  3. Kind of.

If you're ONLY disabling ModSec for specific pages, then it's not AS risky as it seems. I've been running with it disabled for WP and MediaWiki for months without issues.

Remember, you're not disabling ALL security, just some. And it's that or you can't post with certain words because ModSec is an idiot.
