 * How do I use the WordPress video player on my own hosted site? The video is uploaded
   and crunched but I can only post it as a link to itself. No actual video. I would
   like to be able to just upload my videos with my WordPress thingy, I don’t want
   to have to use youtube or something.

 * I’m surprised that no one can answer this question in a straightforward way!
   I have the same question. I don’t want to host on YouTube or any other such site.

 * There are many free javascript players you can use and embed into your posts….
   google is your friend.

 * Nobody can answer in a straight forward way because there is no such solution.
   By default, it will always be like a link. You have to use some plug in for the
   job. I read somewhere that is how WP is.

   > I have the same question
 * **Step 1:** Upload your videos via ftp to a dedicated directory on your blog.
   Don’t putz around wasting your time trying to upload 30meg video files using
   the wordpress media uploader. Transcode them to .flv first.
 * **Step 2:** Install a plugin that allows you to quickly embed your videos. There
   are many variations available.
 * [http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/search.php?q=embed+video](http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/search.php?q=embed+video)
 * [This one ](http://www.channel-ai.com/blog/plugins/flv-embed/)works great – the
   link goes to complete instructions and download. I use it frequently. You can
   also find it in the first link I gave you.
 * [This one ](http://www.mac-dev.net/blog/index.php)can be skinned (comes with
   some) and works great. I also use it frequently.
 * Both currently work for me on WordPress 2.8.4.
    ** Step 3: Point the plugin/player
   to your own video directory when you post a video, follow the plugin/player directions
   to add .jpg previews if you want one, and now you are hosting your own videos.
