# WordPress versus Site Address

 * I have a subdomain on my website into which I have installed a different website.
   Until recently, I did not have a separate domain name for it. I added the domain
   name and everything was resolving correctly, but the old subdomain address was
   being used for pages and articles for the site.
 * I figured to change this, I would update the WordPress and/or Site Address for
   it.
 * After reading the distinction between the two, I decided I would update the Site
   Address to the new domain and leave the WordPress address. I’m now getting 500
   Internatl Server errors. I am thinking about changing the WordPress address to
   the new domain name as well, but I did this once with another site and completely
   messed everything up.
 * Is this the correct avenue to travel or am I missing something else that could
   be causing the problem?

 * So even if it still in the same directory and hasn’t physically changed locations
   on the server or to a new MySQL database, I have to go through that entire procedure?
   That seems like a lot of work for a simple change.
 * My site already has the new domain pointing at the director of the site and when
   you type it in, you get the main page of the site, it’s just the sub-pages and
   individual posts that don’t seem to reflect the new domain name.

   but you can skip steps 3, 5, 6, 8, and 9.

 * So, basically, just make sure everything is backed up and then change both the
   Site Address and the WordPress Address since the MySQL info would be the same?

   throughout your content.
