 * In the settings > ‘Can See Submission data’ the dropdown doesn’t show the user
   capability to pick from, just a random list of other things like Manage Options,
   Edit Plugins… etc.

 * Hi [@dynamek](https://wordpress.org/support/users/dynamek/),
 * Thanks so much for reaching out.
 * The items you’re seeing in that field are **WordPress capabilities**, not user
   roles. To control who can view submission data, you’ll want to select the specific
   capability a user must have. WordPress provides a detailed breakdown of how roles
   and capabilities work here: [https://wordpress.org/documentation/article/roles-and-capabilities/](https://wordpress.org/documentation/article/roles-and-capabilities/)
 * For example, Administrators have the `manage_options` capability by default,
   so any role, built‑in or custom, that includes that capability will automatically
   have access to the data.
 * I hope this helps clarify things, and I’m here if you need anything else.

 * I’m not sure why this makes sense.
 * Why doesn’t the dropdown have Super Admin, Admin, Editor etc as the list? The
   list I have on one of my websites is way over 100 different things, including:
 *     ```wp-block-code
       Switch ThemesEdit ThemesActivate PluginsEdit PluginsEdit UsersEdit FilesManage Options...ReadLevel 10Level 9Level 8Level 7...Edit Others PagesEdit Published PagesPublish Pages...Install ThemesUpdate CoreList UsersRemove Users...Manage WooCommerce...Edit Private Yith Bookings...Publish Ywcbk-search-forms...Rank Math SitemapRank Math 404 MonitorRank Math Link Builder...Manage Twitter Feed OptionsCreate Customers
       ```
 * Make it make sense, please!
 * Hi [@dynamek](https://wordpress.org/support/users/dynamek/),
 * Thanks for getting back to us, and apologies if this has been a bit confusing.
   To clarify: options such as **Super Admin, Admin, Editor, and so on** are **WordPress
   user roles**.
 * On the other hand, the list you’re seeing represents **user capabilities**. Capabilities
   are more granular than roles, for example, they define specific actions a user
   can perform within WordPress.
 * From the list you shared, it looks like you also have some **custom capabilities**,
   such as _Rank Math 404 Monitor_.
 * I hope this clears things up!
 * I understand it is a list of capabilities – by why?
 * It would make far more sense for ‘Can See Submission data’ to be a list of the
   roles as this is how users are added to the admin! The question asked here is‘
   Who needs access to see the the email logs?’ Admin/Editor etc would be the answer…
   Do you see what I mean?
 * Hi [@dynamek](https://wordpress.org/support/users/dynamek/),
 * Thank you for sharing your perspective, we truly appreciate the feedback. You’ve
   raised an excellent point about how roles versus capabilities are presented,
   and I agree that having role‑based options would be very helpful.
 * I’ve added this as a feature request to our list for consideration as we plan
   the plugin’s roadmap.
 * We’re always looking for ways to improve the experience, and input like yours
   goes a long way in shaping future enhancements.
 * Thanks again for helping us make the plugin better!
