WordPress upgrade from 4.1 to 4.1.1 – blank screen - page 2

Our website is currently in WordPress 4.1 and I tried updating it to WordPress 4.1.1.

After entering the FTP username and password the page becomes blank. The top and left menus of the dashboard are displayed, but the content area is blank.

Can you please help me fixing this issue.

I made it work with a, I would say “hack”….

Im sure thats not the way it should be…

first
add “define(‘FS_METHOD’, ‘direct’);” to the functions.php

for some this already works, for me it didn’t because of file permissions.. I then gave 777 to everything, installed the update and reset the file permissions…

I can confirm that randymelder’s workaround is working.
It’s not a permanent solution though.

@indie4u; as randymelder said, I didn’t get any message or problem after updating to 4.1.1.

I added define(‘FS_METHOD’, ‘direct’); in the functions.php and also on the wp-config.php and tried but I am getting installation failed error now.

Any idea why I am getting this error. I have upgraded the website earlier without any problem.

I’m not familiar with WordPress Trac but as far as I can see this problem hasn’t been reported (yet).

Tried adding the following:
```
define( 'FTP_USER', 'ftpusername' );
define( 'FTP_PASS', 'ftppassword' );
define( 'FTP_HOST', 'ftp.hostname.net:21' );
```
added my personal information. Didn’t help. Still went to FTP server info and it went to white screen.

Hi all!

Oops! a bug crept into 4.1 which only showed up in 4.1.1 that caused this, it’ll be fixed in a future 4.1.2.

I’ve deployed a change to our update checking API to work around the issue for now.
If you head into the WordPress core updates (Dashboard -> Updates) you’ll now see two updates. Clicking either one will update to 4.1.1.
